im trying to create an irc-rpg. like a mud but on irc. i would like to split up the code into small manage-able objects. currently i have a main class ( CGame ). This has a single instance of my netcode class. The problem is when i recieve my packet from my net class i want to have a class that parses them, but its really hard to figure out. can anyone shed any light? [edit] before ( when i made my mud ) i didnt have to worry about who the packet came from and wether whover just left a channel. etc etc. so the design has to be different to my mud?

Packets are notoriously hard to handle well but as stated a factory / builder is probably what you want.

And about the "design error" you got one right ahead of you a CGame class probably is a really crap idea since it's a
GodClass and will give you headaches to no end.
