texture blending

hello, 3 STEPS Merged,result i want to make tile blending like in the pictures,but im not sure how to do it,i can blend the first two with modulate,but in the third,i need to blend the last one with the current so that i need to take the pixels from the third and put them in the black places only and have a result in the third picture.Also i read that it can be done with HLSL but not sure,is it a supported standart used today or something needs good hardware only?
