Hi I am rendering simple cube using .x file but i have one question about Directx7 Retain mode and DirectX9 immediate mode rendering. I had loading .x file goes like this. // The square mesh data. Mesh Square { 8; // Number of vertices for the front face. 1.0; 1.0; 0.0;, // Vertice 0 -1.0; 1.0; 0.0;, // Vertice 1 -1.0;-1.0; 0.0;, // Vertice 2 1.0;-1.0; 0.0; // Vertice 3 1.0; 1.0; 0.0;, // Vertice 4 1.0;-1.0; 0.0;, // Vertice 5 -1.0;-1.0; 0.0;, // Vertice 6 -1.0; 1.0; 0.0;; // Vertice 7 2; // Number of triangles 4;0,1,2,3;, // Triangle #1 4;4,5,6,7;; // Triangle #3 } If u look at triangle one has one polygon so but i'm supprised because directx7 retain mode rendering and directx9 rendering is different why ? let me explain here is some ascci work for both cube rendering. ++++++++++++ ++++++++++++ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + ++++++++++++ ++++++++++++ DirectX9 DirectX7 RM So in Directx9 i'm getting middle line that breaks cube one face to triangles. but in directx7 retain mode it's rendering whole polygon .. anyone can tell me why ? because dx7 and dx9 both rendering triangles ..
