Starting a game...
Me again :)
I want to start to create something simple like a Pong game, but I don't know where to start. What programs do I need?
I would like to talk to someone about this on aim or msn.
Aim: the alchemist146
msn: dbzgtyugioh58@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance.
A compiler. An IDE. An API. And the realevent documentation for each.
Consider MinGW, Code::Blocks, and SDL as an example.

Simplest way to make a pong game would be to use ClickTeam's Multimedia Fusion or Games Factory.
Excelent programs I might add, definitly a good way to start making games without too much programming overhead. I've had MMF for a number of years now and it's a great product.
Ok, first...Do you know any programming at all? If you don't, then I suggest you start learning a programming language. After you understand pointers and classes and all of the basics and a little more advanced stuff, then I suggest switch to an API. If you choose C or C++ as your programing language or know eitheir one of those, then I would go with SDL for an API. SDL is cross platform and it is very easy to use! AFter you get to know SDL, then try to make Pong and see what happens. Just remember, Game Programming is NOT an easy thing to do! It takes comitment and some HARD work. Pong is pretty easy if you know enough SDL. Though, once you get pass that then it will start getting kinda hard. Anyway, hope that helped you!

Okay, I went the SDL site and there are so many things are downloadable and I don't know which one is the one I need for windows. Please help me thanks.
If you have never programmed before, even trying to make Pong might be a bit too difficult.
The first step is to pick a language. C or more often these days C++ are very popular choices for the professional game programmers, but a better choice for a beginner might be something like Python, as it's a bit friendlier. Have a look at the beginning programming tutorials on the website and see what you think. Work through some exercises and make some text based programs and games to get a feel of programming. Then you can use something like pygame to help you make a game. If I was looking at making simple games and I wasn't already a C programmer that's what I'd do in your position.
You could also use Java if you like, that's also pretty good for building GUIs.
If all you want to do is build games as quickly as possible, then follow superpig's advice. But if you want to be a proper programmer, then I'd recommend learning a language like C, C++, Java or Python.
Good luck!

I have code before, Yeah I'm kinda new at this stuff but I'm learning. I know the basics of C++. I want to try to make a pong game so I can atleast see how a game is made.

Myself I would try game maker. It incorporates an objectified system with a full array of events and a C-like script. You can also use drag and drop actions in each event, however, I find it easier to use scripting in the events. Oh, and did I mention it's free. You can register it for the more advanced features or you can use version 5 which has no nag screen or crippled features.
Game Maker
Also, some of the games on my site are made in GM, just to give you an idea.
My site
GM is quite powerful with functions for every game related function.
[edit] Hmmmm, how do I make links clickable...?
[edit2] Nevermind, didn't know it was HTMl enabled
