My math skills are good, but clearly not good enough for the 3D world. I've Googled high and low, but have not been able to figure out camera dolly, track, and tumble similar to the camera controls in Maya or 3dsmax. Can anyone point me towards any resources that explain any of these in detail (or provide a description)? Thanks a lot! -Brandon Bloom

I see another thread with camera rotation being discussed, I will watch that for Tumble, but I still need help with Track.

Thanks a lot

I believe track is the same as what is mathematically called translation. Just moving the position without rotation.

It is not that simple.

It is translation along the view plane. Dolly is just a simple translation along the view plane's normal, but track involves moving perpendicular to that and I am just not sure how to go about it.

Couldn't you just extract the right, and up vectors from the view matrix and translate along those?

._11 = Right.x
._21 = Right.y
._31 = Right.z

._12 = Up.x
._22 = Up.y
._32 = Up.z
