Hi, I'v been wondering for sometime how exactly does it work with the maps?. How maps you create ( like HL2 with Hammer ) work and are being loaded. Is it en encrypted format that list all the vertex and the entity to load etc? (I don't have a clue ) Thank

The short answer is: yes. The vertices, texture information, lighting info, all that gets put into a map file in a largely arbitrary format. They're not usually encrypted as such, but they are commonly in binary to make it easier and quicker to load, which has the side-effect of not being human-readable.

So basicly it's like a .txt that you will use to read the info and init the proper buffer and mesh? something similar like writing/reading with fstream?

Well, no, it's not a text file, but yes, as with any file, you can read it in with fstream. Then you'll probably use the .read() method to get the data.
