first of all, and this would make life much easyer, do programs and the dynamicly linked librarys they call share the same memory? other wise... i have an app that i want to render a 2d array given to it by the dll ( its only 2d because there are only 8 colours max ). how would i do this?

As far as I know they share the same memory, although you still need to watch out for returning local pointers and such.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use a 2D array returned from a DLL function. You may want to look a sending the function a double pointer though, so that you have control over its memory.

Can you post what you have tried, and what is wrong/happening with it?
