Networking with SDL?

I have just started with SDL, so bare with me. I switched to SDL so that I would not have to deal with the Win32 API. So my window initialization code isn't 400+ lines long. I have also heard that SDL has an alternative to winsock for networking. My question is, how would I use this to start making a networked game?

RakNet is also a great starting point and a lot higher level than what SDL_net provides. It's a reliable UDP networking library that is great for the action-intensive games such as an FPS,etc..

Or if you just want a bare-bones reliable UDP library, then google e-net
