Well I was wondering if it was possible to acutally get a really accurate location from someone's IP by pinging, etc, over a long period of time and some how calcuating the distance. Does anyone have any ideas or know anything about this? Maybe how to program something that would do such a thing?

VisualRoute does this, from what I understand they have a DB of IP addresses and the geological locations of thoes router/switch points.

I don't think you can acutally determine the physical location of the end point without either interpreting the resolved DNS names manually, or having such a database to reference.
