Does anyone know how to setup the basic TI-82 Graphic Calculator to accept the complex number system? I need it for the correspondance I'm taking and I cannot find any information online anywhere. Apparently I need to get the calculator into "a + bi" mode so I can calculate equations such as Sqrt(-1) x Sqrt(-1) Thank you Halsafar

The 'mode' menu (one of the upper left buttons) has both an a+bi and a polar version on my 83+.

Thank you for the guidebook site, that will definetly aid me in the future.

It is rather unfortunate that the TI-82 doesn't support complex numbers, according to my correspondance papers I will eventually need a graphing calculator that does support the complex number system.

I have found several programs online for the TI-82 which can be installed onto the system but unfortunatly the uplink coord is long lost. So I have decided to go without until it is becomes necessary -- then I will program my own app for the TI-82 on the TI-82 to work out complex numbers if its possible.
