Help with animation timer

what is the best way to slow down my naimation so peole can see what is really going on? Tha animation part is easy slowing it down is the hard part [Edited by - kingpinzs on September 4, 2005 4:13:55 PM]

Something like this?

if (currentTime >= startTime + frameDelay)
if (frame == maxFrames) frame = 0;
startTime = currentTime;

For this to work you need to create a timer, and depending on what API you are using this differs on how you would go about doing creating that timer.
