Tips for composing?

Well, I don't quite know how to describe the dilemma, but I'll do my best. Anyway, I have a Roland XV-5050 and use Cakewalk to do my midi work. Anyway, I know the 5050 is more powerful than what I have done. Does anyone have any tips on how to "better bring out sound richness"? I've heard some demo songs and percussion sounds kind of nice in some. I just think I'm doing some things wrong. If it's documentation that one can provide, that would be great too. I have some music samples available of what I have done. Ice Fields is one, as are the piano songs. The soundclick link is below. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=111104 Hope to hear from someone.

Have you checked out this sticky thread? The examples it uses largely relate to FL Studio, but the techniques described should apply to most setups.

Again, it uses FL Studio for examples, but the info applies to any sequencer, check out the links posted here.

Hope those help you a bit. [smile]
