GetProcAddress slowdown...

In my game engine I load function addresses from various dll files using GetProcAddress. I have noted a major slowdown caused by calling glClear (from OpenGL32.dll) when I load its proc address from the dll file and then call it via the acquired function pointer. Does anyone know why this is occuring?
