OpenGL Could be only my imagination....

I have seen a disturbing thing... When i have seen examples of particles with Direct3D it worked very well but when i turned on the OpenGL examples it was very slow... Is there a reason for it?

A simple question like that can earn you several pages of a thread of strife. :)

Anyways, it's entirely possible that:

1) Your video card has better support for D3D than OGL
2) The particle example was coded more efficiently in the D3D example than the OGL one
3) Your video card drivers are out of date (?)
4) It is only your imagination ;)

carmack mentioned gl being about 5% quicker than d3d, but it depends on what youre doing, eg if i converted my app to d3d it would run about 10%slower.

in your case its most likely the drivers etc.
if its very slow than u have software unacceleration
put this in your app
cout << glGetString( GL_RENDERER )
