Hello, Im trying to write an application which will display in-game a messagebox with text. I mean something like xfire or TS does, when you play a game, and someone writes to you it displays a small box in the game (almost transparent). And Im looking for a solution how to make the same thing with my app. I appreciate any answers.

if it's a 2D game, just draw it last with some transparency. Their are articles on this site for 2D transparency. The text you can do, sllloooowly, using GDI. It really depends on what stuff you're using to do your drawing, 2D SDL, openGL, D3D, allegro.

Cheers,
Andrew

You can either write a proxy Direct3D dll or use DirectDraw overlays. You should find documentation on DirectDraw overlays in the DirectX7 SDK. I have an old directdraw overlay test application. If it'd be helpful to you, mail me and I'll send you the source.
