erase google search history
Whenever you type anything into the search prompt at Google, it opens a listbox with every other entry you've ever input starting with the same letter. For example, if I begin typing "applesauce" it opens a listbox containing every other *recent* (?) entry starting with 'A.'
This information must be saved in a file somewhere on my computer....
Where is it and how can I delete it?

You have to clear your cookies and temporary internet files in your browser.
In Mozilla go to Tools->Options->Privacy
In IE go to Tools->Internet Options->General Tab
Hope that helps,

When the box opens, use the cursor-down to get to the entry you don't

Not quite, it's a combination of some buttons and delete...
but I refuse to tell you, I want you to get caught with porn history :D
Oh you guys are so mean! [grin] There could be lots of other legitimate uses for not wanting autocomplete...like....yea right [smile]. Anyways for IE: Tools->Internet Options->Content->Autocomplete. Remove the check for Forms and hit the "Clear Forms" button. Then you'll want to do what Ace has suggested.
If you are using FireFox, then Tools->Options->Privacy. Then uncheck the "Saved Form History" and do a Clear on it. Might as well clear everything else too.
