While I'm not exactly a beginner, I figured this would be the best place to post such a request. Where can I find a source that details every part of a professional game engine? I mean, like a really big layout. The code is optional, just how and why everything in an efficient engine is put together, scene graphs, sound, physics, network code, everything. I can only seem to find books written for beginners or for experts...they either don't tell you enough or tell you too much about the wrong thing. There's lots of advanced tutorials for things like OpenGL and lots of beginner ones. But those only teach you the complicated and the too simple - what teaches you the useful? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Engineuity Articles written by SuperPig discuss the building of a game engine from scratch. It's not exactly a "professional" game engine but it's a very good read.

Here is the first in the series.
