For my project I have to use PNG files and directX 7.0. I already found a way to load PNG files but most of the functions from directX 7.0 can't use PNG files. I have to find a way to make BMP files from the PNG files of a way to fool DirectX so he thinks he is using BMP files but it are PNG files.

Its been a while since I used DirectX 7 but you don't have to use the D3DX functions to load your images. Load your PNG files with whatever way you have found and then just create an empty DirectX 7 texture, lock the texture and fill it yourself with the data from the PNG file.
