I want to parse and load a 3d studio max file with C# (and opengl). Directx would be fine too. Does anyone have an example of parsing through this file format (using C#) that they can post. Please note that I don't want to mark this code as unsafe. Thanks in advance.

you can't use opengl or directx to load them. you CAN however look at how it is done in using C and fread on this page and port it to C# using whatever file reading functions it offers.

I understand what you are saying. I was really asking two questions. The first (and main) question is: does anyone have a parser already done in C# for 3ds files.

The second question is, does someone have some rendering code using C# and whatever basic API to render the parsed input with?

Anyway, I've ported an example from Java into C# for the 3ds file parser. Hopefully, I'll finish the renderer part of it over the weekend.

Maybe, I should post them if someone else is interested in seeing this. If anyone else is interested in this please just reply to this and I'll post the work.
