I have a huge scene with about 200000 ploygons, when i enable the lighting . SetRenderState(D3DRS_LIGHTING, TRUE); it runs 23fps. then disable lighting. SetRenderState(D3DRS_LIGHTING, FALSE); the fps is 22. It looks like no changes, btw,i only use Ambient and a directionglight.

The lighting calculation doesn't form a bottleneck in that particular app, so you see little to no performance variation by toggling it.

The basic lighting is a quite simple formula, and since most modern graphics cards have a very fast geometry unit, per-vertex lighting seldom forms the bottleneck in any application.
