I use Notepad for creating my game levels. Is there a simple level creator (or text editor) that allows drag-and-drop of characters? I don't like keeping SPACE pushed every line to insert 30-40 blanks. And should have text (.txt) output.

What about TAB? [smile]

It really depends on what your map/level requirements are (tile size, map size, layers. . .) If it is for your own project it is unlikely you are going to find an editor that will work unless you are using the format of another game. It would probably be better if you wrote a small editor for yourself. Just use the same map loading format you already have, add a function to save changes, and add input to change map/item graphics. But if you give some details of what your levels need (tile size, etc. . .) someone may know of a solution for you.

Captain Nuss, thanks. The column mode was what I wanted.
Ekim_Gram, I tried TAB but was too imprecise (takes up 8 characters at a time). Not good for certain small levels.

I have source code for my map editor it may help so let me know and I will mail you the source. Its written in VB6 but very easy to see whats happening. Then allows you to export to an array that loads into your game

Let me know
