Disciples 2

These turn-based games have a hot seat mode for 2 or more players on the same computer.
Settlers 2 !

So does Wesnoth. ("The Battle for Wesnoth is a free, turn-based strategy game with a fantasy theme.")

More small, funny games:
"Lemming Ball Z is a DBZ-style fighting game with Lemmings."
"Feature Fangis is a funny game for 2-4 players on a single computer."
HaCKeR is a neat Tetris clone including cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.

YES

Here's some, you'll need dos-box for some though:

ufo-enemy unknown
x-com apocalypse (dos-box)

Grand theft auto 1 & 2

They can all be found on abandonia or abandonia reloaded.

If you have one of the original Doom games, check out the Legacy source port. 2-Player splitscreen!

Cool!

And why has nobody suggested Worms? Does anybody here remember Apocalypse Cow, also?
Gish (free demo)
Rag Doll Masters (free demo)

Sure they're demos, but increadibly addictive and fun!

Worms all the way! Lots of great fun for up to 6 players. Get one of the 2D versions though (Worms 2, Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party); the 3D versions just don't have the same appeal.
