[.net] Clarification of Microsoft Products...

I am quite confused... I understand Longhorn is now Vista...but that is about it... ;) Is vs.net 2005 actually whidbey? Is .net 2 what will run on vista? What is avalon? What is that other, lesser known longhorn thing... (Forgot the name, but it is always put in text alongside avalon).

Whidbey was the code name for vs2005 now it is known simply as VS 2005

.net 2.0 ships with VS 2005 (Nov 2005) Vista isnt shipping until late next year I think.

Im guessing your thinking Avalon/Indigo both of which were code names now known as "Windows Presentation Foundation", "Windows Communication Foundation" respectivly. Offered together as .net addon known as WinFX Runtime Components
