Alpha Channel

I am making a 3D Engine and i want to use glass effect in meshs (using .x files for mesh's).What is the best way of doing glass effects. I am using D3D 9.0 SDK.Visiual C++. How can i set alpha channel? How can i set the opacity of a textured mesh?Like piece of glass. Also i have another problem connected with this. Can i set the opacity of just a few poligons in the textured mesh.For example a human model using eyeglasses. Do you have any idea, sample codes or anything can help me? Thanks.
