A good bit of the games made by ID end up getting ported to the Quake or Mac world. I think it's because Carmack likes to get technology out there and see interesting things happen on all fronts. They just don't want to alienate a whole fanbase just over the OS they might seem to use. If somebody wants to see it happen they just go for it. That's what happened with early Quake.

This is really great news indeed. Now people, learn from the masters: Learn SDL! :) Come on, a little competition on the OS market would help us consumers. You did like your new graphics cards also, didn't you? (I'm referring to ATI - Nvidia war ^^)
