MDX problem
i started to work with MDX (Managed DirectX) a couple of weeks ago. I didn't work on anything with graphics before, but I'm set to make a great game now :D
anyway, I made this little game that drives a car onto a road and it worked just fine on my computer. But when I sent it to others, the .exe file from VS.NET + the resource files, it just wouldn't work! For some it generated a JIT problem, for others a IO exception.
I didn't know what's wrong so I made this crappy application that renders a triangles, and it also only works on my computer! What's the deal?
I have the .NET framework 1.1 and the august 2005 DXSDK installed. My friends all have the 1.1 framework, but their DX runtime is older (is still 9 something). Can this be the problem?
Thank you
I've run into this problem too. I *think* there is an exe that comes with each new directx release that you can have people run to update the managed directx dlls. I havent tried this myself, however, and am very interesting to know if anyone else has found and solved this problem.
The latest DirectX redistributables will install the MDX stuff if the .NET Framework is installed.
If they have the .NET Framework installed, just run the August 2005 DX9 redist and you should be good to go.

Here is a nice article on the inner realm about redistributing your managed directx applications.
How the distribute managed directx applications?
Hope this helps.
Take care.
