I am just getting a generic "The page cannot be displayed" message on about every third page I try to open, this is a real pain.

Internet Explorer, v6.0
Windows XP Home, Service pack 2

edit: And about 3/4 of the time I click reply.
edit2: Now it has extended to my profile, the articles section, and about 1/2 of the images on each page (smilies, avatars, buttons, etc.)

I'm getting random "Page contains no data" errors as well, and now a new one, the news aren't always displayed, using Opera 8.5.
Maybe the DB is getting overloaded sometimes?

[edit]While trying to submit this post, I got a strange error message:
Quote:Original message by Opera
Connection closed by remote server

You tried to access the address http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/post_info.asp, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.

I believe, however, that this has nothing to do with destroying vegetables.
[edit2]It is happening all the time now...
About 1/4 connections doesn't work indeed. Maybe the webserver just needs a restart :)

Sounds like the webserver has a virus, or something, either way it is getting close to unusable. The main page loads about 1/2 the time, but only loads the CSS layout about 1/6 of the time (tested by clicking on the refresh button 24 times at 20 second intervals).
Almost every other page requires 2-3 attempts to load.

Right guys, listen up. abdul spotted this problem, yesterday. There is a problem with the server timing out due to the amount of requests being made.

I have been watching the forum numbers and I ain't seen much change to cause the drain in bandwidth...either its a software fault with IIS and the windows server causing the timeouts or the site is being subjected to a distributed denial of service attack.

Anyone pissed anybody off with serious resources at hand?

Same here, firefox gives me the document contains no data dialog. Tried it with safari and got this "error was: lost network connection" (NSURLErrorDomain 1005)".
I'm starting to have that problem again. Not just "this document contains no data", but the pages might load only the navigation bar at the top, then nothing else. The CSS problem has popped up a couple of times today.

I'm at work right now, but when I logged on at home last night, I had 0 problems. Is the rhino getting wobbly again, or is it just me?

Me too... Firefox, windows XP. Only on the forums, though, and not *every* time. Most of the time, though.

It seems like the database is getting overloaded certain times of day, but I wonder what has changed? There surely isn't that much more traffic on GameDev.net than last week?
