Heya, I'm using Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Font to draw text to the screen, but I would like to put a text over my meshes, in 3d space. Not a 3d text, just a sprite (billboard) rotated always towards the camera and it should size up / down depending on distance from the viewer. If you've ever played world of warcraft, I want the same effect as the name text over enemies / players. Is it possible to do this with the standard librarys or do I need to create my own font class to achieve it? Any help appreciated.

I'm afraid the MDX class library is lacking here. I think the easiest way to do this is to have the Font object render each block of text to a render target texture, and then render the texture to the device using a Sprite object, which handles billboarding for you.

Another method is described in the Text3D sample in the MDX SDK. It uses GDI bitmaps containing the text and creates textures from those.
