I just have a few question I hope can be answerd about SDL. First is it possible to create blank bitmap and if yes how? Second can a resource file be used to load a bitmap. If it can would it be something only a windows OS be able to handle?

to create a blank bitmap programmatically in SDL, yes

about the resource thing, i dont know...
Ok thanks. ^^
What exactly do you mean "resource file?" Do you mean a big archive file where your files are stored, like Starcraft's .mpq's, or Quake's .pak files, etc? Or do you mean something like a .dll where resources are compiled in?
I like the DARK layout!
I think resource files work on other platforms as long as you use a gcc compliant format of resource files, .rc for example
