I'm familiar with text based C++, but never got into graphical apps. I'm familiar with Visual Basic, which is graphical but limited to windows platforms, and I've never dealt at all with sending data over networks. I'm trying to get started on a real-time web games application, with multiple users. And I'm really stumped as to where to start. If someone could suggest a direction, I can run with it. It would be simple card games and board games, ideally with a downloadable client application that logs into a lobby server that farms out the client to game rooms. Thanks in advance. Leko

Flash MX can do multiplayer, but it's not that easy.. you should start with simple stuff first :P

If you meant dynamic webpages, php and mysql are really good for that :P

I really want to write a standalone application, something more robust than flash. I'll probably need to do it in java, most likely, but wanted to get input so I don't overlook something more appropriate or easier.
