I have followed the image loading tut for Dev C++ from Lazy Foo's page. My program compiles fine and when i run it its fine... unless I actualy try to load an image like so
Image1 = IMG_Load(filename.c_str());
Even the Foo's code i downloaded does the same. I've unzipped every thing as per the documentiation .. im sure, ive even done it 3 times over just to tripple check... any advice? Cheers.

Just make sure you have the lastest versions on SDL and SDL_image.

New versions of of SDL_image don't like old versions of SDL and vice versa.

I have (im pretty damn sure, but i will recheck)
SDL version 1.2.9 (stable)
And the only version of _image i can find is the 1.2.4 version your tutorials link to.

Is this the right set up?

I've sorted this now thanks.. I WAS using the old version of SDL but when i was dragging and dropping the new verison of the DLLs into System32 it wasnt giving me any overwirte confirmation so i assumed it was doing it... it wasnt i had to manualy delete SDL.dll from system32 and place the new one in afterwards... thanks guys all sorted now... got my game using 2.5 MB's of PNG images rather than 10mbs of bmps [smile]
