I've used two of their free apps so far, and I've been clean. Seems legit, and I found it through a site I trust as well.

Check for spyware etc before trying this stuff out, but these seem like pretty cool sites.

I haven't used any of their games yet, they look like generic shareware crap, but the main site will occasionally have a useful app.

As to its reliability/scumware status, I am 99% sure that there won't be any problems. (Namely because giveawayoftheday.com appeared in The (Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota) Star Tribune tech column a few weeks ago, and the fact that I have used a few of the apps without problems.)

By the way, though, you might want to check the previous page. I posted a link to giveawayoftheday.com there, not that it matters. It's a good site that occasionally turns up gems.

As I saw this post I immediately thought GGAOTD, but seeing you mentioned both that and the regular giveaway, I'll just inform people that they also have a freeware library. Just to let you know this thread RoXoRzErZ (Ya I know) and keep up finding stuff like that.

Line Rider
The Goods: What's better than designing a track so the linerider can fall to his doom?
The Catch: Get's boring after a while
If practice makes perfect and nobody's perfect, why practice?
Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2

Grand Theft Auto

The Goods: Play a few classics for free
The Catch: Must provide personal information

(P.S. Hope this hasn't been posted yet)
--------------------Enigmatic Coding
Talking Time Keeper

The Goods: A nifty little program that helps organize your calender, has an accurate world clock, and shows a live map of which parts of the earth are in night and which are in day, among other things. It talks, and if you want, it talks like Morgan Freeman.
The Catch: Overburdened with features; you forget what you've done and where.
Blah, too much free software, not enough free physical objects.

Microchip Samples
URL http://sample.microchip.com/
The Goods Free samples of Microchip's stuff, such as PICs and other bits and gubbins that are useful to people doing electronics projects.
The Catch Most of their free samples require a PIC programmer in order to be programmed; this is pretty cheap to build, though.

Hamburger Helper
URL http://www.fatwallet.com/t/22/715830/
The Goods A free sample of Hamburger Helper Singles. Excellent for dorm living.
The Catch You still need to buy hamburger, unless you're one of those people who just eats it out of the box.

Earth Day Graft
Save the environment, go get some random crap. Good for today only.
Getting Free Phone Calls with Google Maps

URL: http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2007/04/07/using-google-maps-to-get-free-phone-calls
The Goods: Basically how it sounds, the advantage is that the calls aren't traced... the author describes ordering a pizza to his workplace without the call appearing on his company phone records.
The Catch: You'll end up eating pizza at work?
I got my intel books today! Fascinating!

Anyone have any other free stuff shipped to your door?
Altiris SVS
URL: http://www.svsdownloads.com/

Description: Altiris SVS is a free tool for software virtualization. You "capture" application installs into a layer, then you can use the SVS Admin to deactivate, reactivate, reset, or delete the layer. If you deactivate the layer, all traces of it are removed from your system. It's a very nice piece of software, especially for free!

The Goods: Free software virtualization, excellent for keeping your machine clean and uncluttered.
The Catch: None that I'm aware of.

EDIT: Reformatted the post.
