Hey do I have to do any special things to load meshes exported with maya? I exported a mesh from 3ds and it loads in perfectly in my application. Anything I export with maya and load in my application doesnt loads at all.

I searched the forums around abit and found two options

#1 Write my own exporter
#2 Use deep exploration exporter instead...

I've tried the #2 so far and it works...will write my own exporter and release it for public this weekend

Thanks

I use maya to export X models, and it works just fine? Sure you have the latest version of the export module (obtainable from microsoft.com).

Also, try open the .x in:
DXSDKPATH\Utilities\Bin\x86\DXViewer.exe

The newest exporters do not use FVF, they use D3D9 Vertex Declarations. If your app still uses the old FVF system it will not work. Infact the ID3DXMesh::GetFVF() function will return zero! MView was depricated and removed from the SDK DxViewer was it's replacement and is fully D3D9.
