as for the veg thing... like most sound effects, punches are usually made up of a load of layers, any veg hitting action is usually just used for the 'squish' factor. I've destroyed a fair amount of fruit and veg in my time... and it certainly doesn't impress the ladies ;)
Still... could be worse... we could be programmers :D
