I've been working in gaming industry for a last few months, and it's been fun. There's a plethora of books for shaders, physics etc, but is there a book that dicussess game engines. There are a few engines that are licenced out and those engines are HUGE. I am hoping there's a book that gives a general overview of a typical game engine for a novice that'll give him a general idea of different components and how they are organized. Off course, I don't expect the description of exact architecture, but a general idea would be good. -R PS : I have the standard Game Prg. Gems I-V. they have a ton of info, but nothing comrehensive about game engine itself.

i got a copy of "Writing a Multiplayer FPS in DirectX" (Vaughan Young)... its kind of newbie, but it does cover *one* possible way of building an engine.
