Have you downloaded and installed the OpenAL SDK? I have ALut.dll in install_directory\libs\Win32\.

As yckx has said, you can download the latest OpenAL SDK. I believe that ALUT is still 1.0 in that version, but if it is not, then you will have to use CVS to download it. Based on the OpenAL CVS reference page, you can use this command line to get the final OpenAL 1.0 Distribution, which should have ALUT 1.0:

cvs -d:pserver:guest@opensource.creative.com:/usr/local/cvs-repository co -r Win1-1-2_Spec1-0 openal

If you need a CVS client, you can download and install TortoiseCVS, then go into the folder, create a batch file (.bat extension), paste in that CVS line above and it will download for you.

I've just uploaded release candidate 1 of freealut 1.0.0 to
http://aedion.de/openal/ and the alut subtree in the repository has been
tagged "freealut_1_0_0_RC1".
