Animation Nodes and Hierarchy

To deal with anmation in hierarchial nodes I introduced a CAnim node in my SG api. This node was derived from a basic transform group node and also contained information for animation. The concept was okay until thought of this. In case u need to start an animation, u'll inform the first anim node in a hierarchy to start it. This node will travel thru its child CAnim nodes to start the animation for each anim node in the sub hierarchy. The problem is I ain't sure this will work and dont want to try this concept until I'm sure. Can anybody tell me the right way in which hierarchial animation system in a SG is setup, or how a animation node will look like. Pointers to articles or tutorials would be nice.
