Deep Blue Creations
Hey, me and a few friends are a tad bit new to the scene of game development. The name of this forum is Beginners Board so I decided to post my little introduction here.
Hi, I'm Andrew MacEntee but I like to be referred to as GoodAndy online. Rockin2go, a friend of mine, have been planning on making an MMORPG for a few years now... We never did anything but a little planning, like I said. Now, we are getting a little more serious because of how many MMORPGs there are.
We are being extremely serious about making this game. As of now the game is titled The Legends of Naega. It's temporary, maybe. And the company name, if you can call it that, is right now being called Deep Blue Creations. We believe we have a really good concept artist ready and an okay 3-d modeler. But it's a little early.
I mainly wanted to introduce myself and tell people that I'm new and to not be so harsh on me.

Welcome to the community. I don't think you'll have to fear people being harsh on you - we like helping people here. [wink]
Nice logo, btw.
Nice logo, btw.
How much experience do you guys have? If you guys aren't beyond your Pong stage, you may have some problems...
BTW good luck with your project, we need more indie MMORPGs that are actually FINISHED. So many are started, and are never finished...

About our experience...
I have made a few little 2-d games in flash and a game in Multimedia Fusion. All that was pretty much small stuff compared to what's going on now. But I'm also not the programmer. I'm not that experienced in making games but I've made a few so I shouldn't have a very hard time. Plus, the members of Deep Blue Creations has already spent a few hundred dollars on books about game development, Maya, and design. We are trying our best to put this game out there.
About my logos and stuff...
I forgot to mention that I've been making web sites and logos for over four years. So, if the game sucks, the web site will not. lol The reason why I didn't mention this before was because I really don't have time to receive requests about me making some logos.
Here is the Legends of Naega logo, for right now. Please give me feedback.

Yes, it's supposed to be a little girly because we are trying to attract girls into the game. Why? Because the guys will follow.

Looks a bit washed out. Also, the flower bud looks like a shower head. Interesting though.

That's probably the best MMORPG strategy I've seen on these boards so far... Kudos & good luck :D
The flower is actually about the width of a car. It's huge. The bud is a cup that hold healing juice that you can drink or bottle it up and sale. Also, the logo is supposed to kinda' look painted so maybe that's why it looks washed out. Like it was painted a long time ago on an old sheet of paper.
Lo' I'm Andy's father Michael Willis, but I've been known as Rockin2go for the last few years.
GoodAndy and I have been designing things together for the last few years and we've worked together hand in hand, from our first website to winning silver in state we start a goal and thrive to get it done.
We've been in the gaming community for a long time now, always posting articles, reviews and tutorials to help everyone out. Flash games and Multimedia Fusion was our first foundation. Then we started making mini games and scripts for the javascript/c++ game engine Sphere RPG, programmed by aegisknight and flik.
But networking, and programming have been my strong points, I started with web development programming languages such as php, java, pearl, and javascript. Then I started messing with VB.net.. its a handy program, lets you make almost any application you can think of, but it doesn't allow us to do exactly what we wanted. Actionscript and flash had some fun in them, we were able to make small easy games just to pass the time.<br><br>C++ and the directx library solved my problems.. torque was nice.. I read enough about it that the name "Torque" became annoying but its a great indie 3d dev library. Plain and simple there's just nothing like starting from scratch.<br><br>I'm starting college in about 7 months to get my Bachelor of Science in game and simulation programming, foucusing a lot in the MMORPG realm.<br><br>Andy is one of the best graphic artists, music comps, and story writers I know, hes the pro at putting together beautiful lanscapes and scenery or little sound fx that make you go "!!!"<br><br>Kittie our MAYA 7 tech, hes currently lounging away at his minimac, 3D modeling and animation is his strong hes going to state this year on 3DMod.<br><br>Don Goodwin, this guy is simply amazing, he can draw anything with anything, give him a pen, mona lisa, give him an airbrush a recreation of every car in fast and the furious, give him a stick.. yea hes that good. He's our concept artist, though I will be paying him, he has to make a living.<br><br>Chris Piece, I grew up with this chum, he reads more books and knows more about everything than anybody. He's constantly reading a sci-fi, playing D&D, Magic the Gathering, Questing his lvl 60 in World of Warcraft or just scaring the living hell out of you, hes helping us with our story and town history all the way to our combat spells and questing system.<br><br>Anyways, this is more than just our hobby its our passion and career. The mad gaming hours and RPGS never leave us dont grow up, grow into it!

Hey! My parents live in Texarkana. When I visit over the holidays I'll look for the guys wearing the t-shirts with the girly logos. [grin]
In any case, good luck with the game.
But are they really? Started, I mean.
