[web] How can I improve my site content?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I run a currently small site at www.quest-networks.com And it is focused mainly on gaming and there is going to be some stuff on 3d modelling soon. And while I do get a good amount of visitors, there just isn't anything unique on the site to draw people back to it. So my question is: How can I set my gaming site apart from all of the other gaming sites? sure I could update the site with the latest news or add a few modelling tutorials, but there are so many other sites that have been around longer and probably do that stuff better then I will.any advice would be helpful.

If you don't know what content to put on your site, then what is your site for in the first place? What is the purpose of your site? Presenting your personal stuff? Building a community? Generating sales? Figure that out first, and the contents will follow [smile]

Provide unique content that actually helps people. I've been adding small mini-tutorials on many topcis in game programming to my site over the last five years or so -- it's slow, but I know it helps people out (I now get many thousand unique visitors per month!)

I don't even do it for "driving traffic" -- I do it because I like helping people learn. The trick is to create the site for a specific communication reason, and then fulfilling that reason. "Getting lots of people to come" is not a working reason.

ok, thanks for the tips. I'll just start adding some of my tutorials and hopefully that will keep people coming back. Tips are still welcome.
