I wanted to know what major changes there were to DirectDraw between the older versions and the 9.0c Summer Update of DirectX. It really bothers me because I have to latest SDK and can no longer compile the older code written for DXDraw 7. Thanks for your help and happy holidays!

Not to drag this thread off topic, but have you looked into using ID3DXSprite, its a great way to do 2D in more up to date sort of system besides using DirectDraw. You can do just about anything 2D with it and its quite easy if not easier then DirectDraw. There is a few articles here on gamedev about the ID3DXSprite interface.

Some articles I could find:
Dissecting Sprites in Direct3D
Direct3D Sprites

DirectDraw hasn't changed at all since DX7. It is now deprecated and isn't really necessary since you can do anything you need to do with D3D. I would encourage you to look into the ID3DXSprite interface as GDKnight has suggested.
