SetViewport and ID3DXSprite

I'm doing the GUI for my game, and I have a lot of scrolling views. Most of the time, the bottom row is shown partially, but I want to draw it anyways. This will provide more feedback that there is more stuff. The active scrollbar doesn't convey enough feedback. So, I figured, I'd draw the whole bottom row and let SetViewport clip the bottom row. I'm using ID3DXSprite to draw my GUI and fonts. However, ID3DXSprite doesn't seem to be responsive to the settings of SetViewport. I've looked at the methods of ID3DXSprite to see if there's a method for clipping, but I've had no luck. Am I missing something obvious, or am I gonna have to be a "big boy" and use an orthagonal projection matrix instead of the ID3DXSprite for my GUI? I've checked the parameters of SetViewport and the result code for errors too. Thanks, Bobby Thurman
