I have a couple of div tags which contains span tags and a href tag. Now those div tags are for menu items. So I want to make a general border around those other div tags. So I am trying to contain the other div tags with another div tag. So I apply the style border etc.. for that outer "parent div" and all i get is a horizonal line that is x pixel long and x is what ever i specify the border to be. so it doesnt have a height and its width is the entire screen. So my question is how would I make a border around other div tags. And is their a reason for my problem? Thank you in advance.

My guess is that there isn't content in it, and you haven't assigned a height to the div.

<div style="width:100%;height:200px;border:1px black solid">
<div>Other Div Content</div>
<a href="#">Content Here </a>
</div>

Is this what you are asking?
