SDL Fullscreen causes KDE to reboot

Weirdest error... I ran an old app I wrote awhile ago on a laptop I just purchased. This app is a very simple 3D OpenGL/SDL app which draws some spheres. Now on my laptop when I run the app then switch to fullscreen KDE simply reboots and I end up back at the KDM login screen... Not sure if this is SDL/GL/Linux/Widescreen Laptop related, so I decided to post here.

Sounds like it's crashing X. Do the X log files say anything interesting?
I like the DARK layout!
Where would I read those logs?
look in /var/log/

There should be a file called Xorg.log (or something like that)
Here is my LOG.
I moved the existing log, caused the error. KDE closes and puts me back at KDM login screen. I logged back in and checked the new log, that is what I pasted here. Another thing to note, when I cause this error I can no longer switch to another tty, like CTRL+ALT+1-6 all bring up console terminals but the graphics are MESSED, just some colored lines... Before I cause this error to occur its all good.

One more thing to note, is it doesn't HAVE TO BE FULLSCREEN. I have just simply MOVE the SDL window and KDE goes down... Before I move the window the app works fine heh.

What does /var/log/messages say after it crashes?

tail /var/log/messages should be enough so long as you do it right after the crash.

edit:
Also, if you're going to post big files, please use [ source ] tags.
/var/log/messages is empty.

I am using Mandriva 2006, maybe it logs elsewhere?

ALso, another important note to sum up the problem:
- I can resize the window, if I resize the window all is okay.
- If I move the window, it crashes KDE.
- If I switch to full screen it crashes KDE.

THis stands true for even the NeHe SDL Tutorials.
That is almost a paradox.

Edit: I'll also add, apps like Kaffine play videos just fine in fullscreen or windowed no problems, no crashes, looks great. So unless Kaffine uses GL or SDL under the hood, I can conclude it is SDL/GL causing this problem.
I notice you're using an SiS driver (you have my sympathy). For once last test, try running glxgears and see if you're still getting crashes. If so, you may just have to use Mesa or something like that instead of hardware accelerated OpenGL.
I like the DARK layout!

paradox?

this may be more suitable question to ask on the SDL mailing list. they would know, in addition they have more experience with dealing with this kind of thing. what is the smallest program that demonstrates this behaviour?

something along the lines of
int( main( int, char ** ){SDL_Init( SDL_INIT_VIDEO );at_exit(SDL_Quit);SDL_SetVideoMode(..., SDL_OPENGL );while(1){while( SDL_PollEvent( &event ) ){if( event.type == SDL_QUIT )   exit(0);}drawSphere();}return 0;}
Yes I am very depressed with my video card.
glxgears gives the same problem.

It runs, fine. Here is the output:

1658 frames in 5.0 seconds = 331.529 FPS
Broken Pipe

The "Broken Pipe" does not appear until I close glxgears.

However:

If I move the glxgears app, KDE crashes. I can resize it thought... If I actually MOVE the window it crashes.

Also for using MESA, when Icheck on my openGL info in the system information it says I am using MESA, or at least MESA is in the driver name.
