In C++, can you use classes? I know that you can only get functions, but can those return classes. If so, how would you do this?

You can export classes from a DLL (though it's usually not such a good idea). You can also create an abstract base class and have a DLL function return a pointer to a new (concrete) instance of that class. ex:

class MyBaseClass {
public:
virtual int DoSomething(void) = 0;
virtual ~MyBaseClass() = 0;
};

__declspec(dllexport) MyBaseClass * dll_factory_function(void);
