Texture Stage

hello, as you might know the default setting for ColorArgument1 of the TextureStage0 is "Current" and the ColorArgument2 for TextueStage0 is TextureColor. while the ColorArgument2 is quite clear for me i dont know excatly what "Current" means. I think for any stages > 0 it means the standard-register. but what does it mean for stage 0? the diffuse vertex color? thanks for any help
