Okay so i have now installe Linux Ubuntu (A Debian distro) and now i want to start playing around with OpenGL like i used to in windows. Obviously there will be lots of things that are done diffrently however i understand if i use someting like glut the transition would be smooth? Anyway what do you guys suggest?

yep using glut would be ok, you could even try SDL ..that seems to be used by alot of Distro's. If you use either of these 2 than yeah it will be very smooth, all opengl commands etc r no different on linux. The only diff is setting up a window for rendering but yep SDL or glut both take care of that.
