Shading in OpenGL
Ok guys, I'm probably being really dense here, but can someone please explain to me the whole creating shadows in OpenGL. Are they easy? I know this is a bit of a throw-it-at-you question but thanks in advance.
It's not really an API issue per say. It's more of, which implementation do you want thing. D3D and OpenGL just provide the basic drawing "blocks", you have to do the filling, in a sense.
There three basic method for generate shadow.
The easist one is the project shadow, you project a texture of shadow to the object be shadowed. It's fast and softedge also.
The second way is use stencil shadow volume by generate a shadow volume from object you rendered!Like Doom3 make.
The third way is to use the shadow map, shadow map is the best way to generate a softedge full screen shadow.
All the shadow method is public on net and easy to find sample and articles for them, enjoy yourself.
