Possible to force a DirectX app into a window?

Is it possible to force a DirectX application to run in a window via the use of an external program? I've heard one exists, but haven't been able to find it. Spending $400 on another LCD just to be able to instant message and play a game at the same time seems a bit excessive.

Dunno if anyone presented a solution though. It's pretty tricky anyway, not a walk in the park exactly. Can't help you personally though.

This might not be DirectX programming related, but you might want to take a look at XFire (www.xfire.com). It's an instant messager that can be used while fullscreen games are being played.
