I was looking at the SkinnedMesh sample from the DirectX 8 SDK and it loads an .x file of a girl and she is walking. I was wondering if anyone knows of any online tutorials (or books) for DX7 for loading an x file and doing the animation. The sample code themselves are very hard to follow since there is almost no commenting at all Thanks for any links you can provide. I didnt find any tutorials for it here on gamedev Possibility

While not the answer you may be looking for, D3DRM has animation classes to do this for you.

The utility files on DX8 help out a lot. Just look at D3D tutorial number 6. With this have you loading and drawing meshes with no problems

I found tutorials were using CD3DFile::Load(filename) and CD3DFile::Render(lpD3DDevice) to load and render the .x files, but they dont do the x-files animations and and has no functions for that. I am using DirectX 7.

Any of you know how to get the x-files to do their animations?
