I recently bought one of those new dual core CPU’s, although it gave a nice boost to compilation speed it isn’t performing nearly at its full potential since only one core is used. Visual studio only uses both cores to simultaneous compile two projects if they are in the same solution. So I am looking for some add on which splits the job between the cores, but the only program I could find was IncrediBuild that comes with a $478 price tag. Does anyone know about some alternative program, preferable free ones but if that isn’t available it should be a reasonable price. Thanks in advance.

I don't think there are any free addons that do it. MS recommends splitting your program into smaller projects within the solution, which will cause more build parallelism with VS2005.

Googling I found some people muttering about the build.exe included with the MS DDK. You could poke around there I suppose.
